How Reynolds Tomorrow made a difference in 2012

The Reynolds Tomorrow process was used during our budget-making process in 2012. The district’s goal was to gain new insights into how to formulate priorities. The effort succeeded.

Here’s how: 

• The district received a clear statement of values that allowed it to invest in critical programs for children, such as elementary PE;
• Leadership heard voices from a variety of community members. It was able to reach patrons who normally are unable to come to meetings at schools;
• It educated the community on the issues being faced by the district;
• It identified areas where Reynolds needs to communicate better with its patrons; and
• As a result, there were fewer complaints about decisions made during the budget process because the community responses validated the board’s budget decisions
